The five-member band was founded in 2022 by János Egri, the leading Hungarian exponent of the double bass, as a tribute to Gábor Füsti Balogh, one of the most prominent Hungarian jazz pianists of the 1970s and 1980s.
The band embodies the spirit of three generations of Hungarian jazz. The namesake was a star of the Great Generation, the mastermind is one of the living legends still active today, while the others are the cream of the young elite. Their goal is to maintain the reputation and art of the artist who died 37 years ago. Drawing on the works of the jazz legend, they perform their own compositions and reinterpret the works of the late pianist.
Their first album was released in October 2024 by Tom-Tom Records under the title “The Big Things”, which they will present on this occasion on the stage of the Budapest Jazz Club. The album mostly features compositions that Füsti recorded for his 1981 album "Krém".
After the concert, the CD will be available for purchase in signed form on site!
