Harmónia Jazzműhely: Kőszegi Imre: New 5

IMRE KŐSZEGI, drummer, composer and teacher is one of the most significant figures in the history of Hungarian jazz. This year he is celebrating his 70th birthday. For this occasion he formed a new band: Imre Kőszegi: New5 whose musical directoR, PÁL VASVÁRI has been one of the definitive influences on the Hungarian jazz-scene over the past 30 years. The Imre Kőszegi: New5 has a unique repertoire and an original sound with the drums and fascinating rhythms (apologies to Ira Gershwin) in the foreground that sum up essence of Imre’s work over more than half-a-century. The contemporary arrangements are by Paul Vasvári based on Imre’s and his own compositions. In this festive band each name speaks for itself: IMRE KŐSZEGI drums, PÁL VASVÁRI bass-guitar, RICHÁRD SZANISZLÓ vibes and marimba, SÁNDOR HORÁNYI guitar, BALÁZS PECZE trumpet.
