Harmónia Jazzműhely: Geoff Warren Hungarian Quartet

Geoff Warren Hungarian Quartet
06.11.2015. 20:00 (Friday)
Price: 1800 / 1400 HUF (full price / student and pensioner)

This group is the outcome of the joint work experience and long lasting friendship of Balázs Bágyi and Geoff Warren.  The material they play is made up of their own compositions that are on par with the great standards. The Hungarian trio accompanying Geoff are all players of the Balázs Bágyi New Quartet: Dezső Oláh on piano, Péter Oláh on bass and Balázs Bágyi on the drums. It’s a very unique occasion to have flute as the lead instrument. GEOFF WARREN is the English-born flautist living in Italy who is one of the most respected exponent of his instrument in Europe. He started off as a sax-player and was one of the pillars of the legendary Graham Collier Music. Later he switched to the flute. He is also a much in-demand composer and teacher. DEZSŐ OLÁH is the young Junior Prima award-winning pianist-composer, already a well respected member of the jazz fraternity. He’s won several prizes for composition and he leads his own Trio a la Kodály. PÉTER OLÁH plays bass for innumerable bands due to his stability and his excellent solo-work. He has been immensely successful in Japan with the Trio Acoustic where his brother is the pianist. He has also been playing with Balázs Bágyi for two decades. BALÁZS BÁGYI the drummer is one of the creative motors of contemporary jazz in Hungary, also working on several international projects. His work as a composer is highly respected. His bands have attracted serious critical attention. His versatility and stamina is unique in his country.
