Egri Jr. | TRIO JOHNOLOGY feat. Egri János & Kőfalvi Csaba
19.09.2024. 20:00 (Thursday)
Price: 3600 / 3000 HUF (full price / student and pensioner)

Already known as an individual jazz pianist, Junior Prima prize winner János Egri Jr. is one of the outstanding representatives of the young generation of the Hungarian jazz scene, who was a resounding success at the 2023 MÜPA Jazz Showcase and won four special prizes. The young pianist won the special prize of Steve Rubie and the Harmónia Jazzműhely Foundation, for which he gave a sold-out concert with leading English musicians in the legendary 606 Club in London.
In 2021, he won the professional prize of the "Young Jazz Musician of the Year" competition organized by the Hungarian Jazz Association as the absolute winner, based on the votes of the jury and the audience. After that, his work was awarded with the Junior Prima Award in the category of Hungarian music.
In addition to his domestic performances, he was lucky enough to give concerts in Istanbul, London, as well as in various parts of France, Slovakia and Romania.
During his performances, he had the opportunity to perform with, among others, Béla Szakcsi Lakatos, Roby Lakatos, Tony Lakatos, Imre Kőszegi, Andrea Malek, Nikolas Takács, Gigi Radics, and many other famous musicians.
Péter Pallai, a Hungarian jazz critic, organizer and curator of the Hungarian Institute in London, said the following about him:
"Your playing is very inspiring and inspiring. You are a guarantee that Hungary's piano will remain a great power."

On this evening, you will be partnered by two main members of the internationally renowned Trio Midnight, which has been operating for 34 years, who are the foremost exponents and virtuoso masters of their instruments:
János Egri will play double bass and Elemér Balázs will play drums.
In the first part of the concert, the young artist's own compositions and arrangements will be performed, which will be seasoned with different styles: modern mainstream jazz, folk music, film music and classical music.
In the second part, the world of the popular genre will be played. In this way, Egri Jr. will revive his singing skills for the audience, which will remind them of his childhood.
On this occasion, he selected his favorite melodies from Michael Jackson's hits. With this, he wants to pay his respects to the King of Pop, who passed away 15 years ago this year.
