After its launch in 2007, the Budapest Jazz Club quickly became a well-known, nationally and internationally renowned venue, a musical venue, and then a vibrant cultural center. In addition to jazz concerts, the programs also include theater productions and family programs.
In the framework of the ENCORE! series, which started in 2024, prominent figures of Hungarian performing arts (including Eszter Balla, Anikó Für, Franciska Törőcsik, Dorottya Udvaros) and world stars in the BJC series, the genre's biggest "big guns" (Ethan Iverson, John Scofield, Jeff Berlin, Peter Erskin and Emmet Cohen) passed the baton to each other in the club's concert hall. The free Jam Session evenings, which are the trademark of the Budapest Jazz Club, continued this year in the BJC bistro, where the youngest members of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music performed with just as much success as the prestigious Hungarian performers and formations of the genre. In addition to the jazz concerts, the musician family events brought to life by the Fogi Theatre and the Máv Symphony Orchestra continued in 2024. In addition to the musical programs, photo exhibitions and several exciting exhibitions in close cooperation with the Műcsarnok were also held at the BJC.

Performers:

NAGY JÁNOS TRIO FEAT. NAGY-CZIROK CSABA

János Nagy, the Erkel Prize-winning composer, plays a significant role in Hungarian jazz life not only as a jazz pianist, but also as a band leader and composer.
Whenever possible, the Harmonia Jazz Workshop gives promising young people the opportunity to prove their high and hone their skills with the masters of the genre. This time, the explosively talented saxophonist, Csaba Nagy-Czirok, completes this familiar trio into a quartet. Csaba is already a member of two permanent bands: Tilia and Emingó. If you would like to see the MÜPA Jazz Showcase, you can do that too.
Milán Nagy, the band leader's talented son, a bass guitarist studying in Rome, will also join the band for this evening.

BALÁZS JÓZSEF QUINTET FEAT. MOLNÁR ENIKŐ

In addition to his successes in jazz, József Balázs is also considered a recognized arranger and composer in other genres. He tours overseas regularly. His playing has many fans in the most prestigious American jazz clubs as well as among the audience of the BJC Jam Sessions. For this special occasion, the usual lineup will be joined by the singer of the Balázs Elemér Group, Enikő Molnár.

HÁSZ ESZTER QUARTET

The band, formed in 2018, has already performed at numerous clubs and festivals in Hungary, and includes two winners of the “Young Jazz Musician of the Year” competition. This evening, they will also be performing tracks from their first album, AQUA, released in December 2022, and well-known jazz standards as part of the popular Jam Session series.
