Dear Musicians,

Below, you will find the general guidelines applicable to all musicians performing at our venue. We appreciate your attention to these rules and your cooperation.

ARRIVAL AND SOUNDCHECK

Concerts

Ticket sales begin two hours before the concert starts. Please provide the guest list to the cashier no later than this time. (Each performing musician may register one guest for their concert.)

The audience can take their seats from 19:45, so it is essential that setup is completed by this time. Soundcheck may take place from 17:30 to 19:30 at the latest. If no other program or rehearsal is scheduled beforehand, loading in is possible from 17:00.

After the performance, musicians are responsible for removing their instruments and other equipment on the same day. We cannot store or take responsibility for any items left behind.

Start Time and Performance Duration

Concerts scheduled for 20:00 must start no later than 20:10.
The standard performance duration is 2 x 45 minutes with a 10-15 minute break in between.

During the summer months (July-August), concerts start at 20:30, while Jam Sessions begin at 22:30.

Jam Sessions

Weekday Jam Sessions are planned to begin at 22:00, while weekend Jam Sessions start at 22:30. The goal is to start the Jam immediately after the concert without any break. We kindly ask all participating musicians to ensure this happens smoothly.

Jam Sessions consist of 45-minute playing blocks, with optional 10-minute breaks.
The official session times are:

• Weekdays: 22:00 - 01:00

• Weekends: 22:30 - 01:30

GUEST LIST

If possible, please send your guest list in advance via email (info@bjc.hu) or submit it in person at the box office by 18:30 at the latest. We cannot guarantee entry for guests submitted after this time.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The Budapest Jazz Club (BJC) is dedicated to promoting jazz music in Hungary. As part of this mission, we collaborate with jazz schools and other partners. Members of these institutions may attend many of our events for free, which means there may be additional audience members at your concert. Our goal is to introduce the club and performances to people who might not otherwise attend.

GRANTS & FUNDING

To support the BJC’s operations, the JazzArt Public Benefit Foundation utilizes grant funding. The preparation and reporting of these grants require administrative collaboration from performers. Your cooperation in fulfilling these obligations is essential.

AUDIO & VIDEO RECORDINGS, TV BROADCASTS

Recording audio or video at Budapest Jazz Club is only allowed with prior approval from both the band and the venue.

For recordings by Jazz Televízió Kft., the footage will be provided to the musicians free of charge for further use, under previously agreed conditions.

For any other recordings, fees must be arranged separately:

• For audio recording: contact the club’s technical director.

• For video recording: coordinate with Jazz Televízió Kft.’s subcontractor.

DISCOUNTS FOR PERFORMERS

On the day of their performance, all musicians are entitled to a 20% discount on food and drinks.

PERFORMING AT BJC IS ONLY POSSIBLE IF YOU ACCEPT THE ABOVE CONDITIONS.
